1st Time At Golf
Last weekend, Phyllis and Joel, Red and I went to Hot Springs, Arkansas for some rest and relaxation.
We rented a condo in the Hot Springs Village, thanks to Joel and Phyllis’ membership. The condo was outstanding and so was the golf and company!
I snap a picture of this Maple tree. Unfortunately, I think we missed the peak of the leaf changing season (or it wasn’t very spectacular this year). Most of the leaves were brown and some yellow and very few red.
So like any vacation you need a lot of pampering. Besides it had been raining in Arkansas like it had been raining here and Saturday the boys played “sloppy” golf (meaning the course was really wet) and us girls made our way to the Hot Springs Bath Houses.
This is right on Bath House Row and this one of the many that have been restored.
This spa’s name is Qaupaw Baths and although they have both private and public hot springs baths, we were not there for a soak.
By the way, the day was absolutely gorgeous. Like us, it was their first day to see sunshine and I think everyone, including their dogs wanted to get outside and enjoy it. This was Halloween too and every time you walked into a store or spa you had to remind yourself they were dressed for Halloween. I don’t care if it is Halloween some costumes just shouldn’t be worn. Another story for another time.
I love this picture. I think it is because the mirror actually frames us inside the mirror inside the picture….does that make sense. Also, there is no flash coming back at you…now if I could have figured how to photoshop that camera out of my hand. I know it is a little fuzzy when you look at it up close but it looks great at this size.
This was before we were whisked off to our Therapeutic Three. That included a massage, a facial and a foot scrub.
Needless to say, my first time at golf started out great and Phyllis and I were so relaxed the rest of the day. There are more pictures and stories to come so stay tuned.
Snowmarker Pen – by Marvy
I couldn’t resist, Henry was so “chillin out”!
Ok, so I got this card magazine and it showed a marker that when heated with a heat gun it would puff up and look like snow. I couldn’t find it in the stores so I went on-line and ordered three of them, 1) One for my BFF, 1) for my Mom and 1) for Me.
Like any other paint pen you have to open it hold the tip down until the stuff starts running. Yea, it started rather fast and so I’m calling this my “snow cloud” (not)!
Here is a tip… it doesn’t work well if the items you are using it for (ie “snow”) is too faint. You need to have a dense amount so there is enough product to puff up.
As you can see this is way to faint.
Looking at this picture you can see where I put dots around the punched out border.
Second tip, it is best to let this product dry overnight, before you use the heat gun to make it puff up.
Unfortunately, you can’t see how much this puffed up, but in real life you can definitely see a difference.
Now, let me tell you I went through all this trouble (ordering a pen, having it shipped, paying shipping cost, etc.) only to find out that liquid applique does the exact same thing.
Hmmm, I wished I’d know that first.
By the way, I don’t get paid by Marvy to review this product. I just thought it was a cool pen and I would let you know that it works (only negative is waiting until it dries).
New Martha Stewart Items
If you hadn’t been in M’s lately you might not know that MS has come out with some new items.
This is a large, deep border punch and runs about $17.99. I don’t buy these items without my 40% coupon. Why pay full price?
When you take it out of the box it is all folded up and all you have to do is just push down the “wings” on each side and it will make a large border stamp.
Absolutely beautiful! These are larger than her normal border punches and they go deeper into the side of the paper. There are several new designs for this size of punches including a heart with cross hatching in the center of the hearts.
This one compliments the dollie border punch very nicely. She also has a new group of punches that comes with an acrylic stamp and the punch to match it. Then she has started grouping the corner punches with the border punches.
If you haven’t checked her line out in awhile be sure to take time and see what she has released. Also, some of the border punches that you could not find are on the shelves so don’t let this season go by and miss the one you’ve been looking and waiting to re-surface.
No, I don’t get anything from MS to push her products, I just like the quality and designs
Tuesday Morning Finds
I went to get my hair cut and lucky for me I was a little early. Right next door to where I get my hair done is Tuesday Morning.
They have a small craft section and I try my best to check it out each time I’m in the area.
This is a set of Inkadinkado stamps that came in a box with an black Ink Dot, various tags and some Christmas ribbon. All of this for $1.99…………sweet.
I kept looking and believe it or not there was a box of wooden stamps. They were Inkadinkado stamps and they were Christmas stamps………..the going price $.99. Yes, you read that correctly $.99/ea.
I’m using the large stamp I think for the message inside my Christmas cards this year. Well worth the $.99.
See you just never know, a quick 5 minute stop at Tuesday Morning and I walked out with two sets of small stamps for Christmas tags at $1.99 each – one set for me, one set for my Mom and these two beautiful stamps. Grand total was $6.45………….Bouya!!!!
Spellbinder Shapabilities
I love this new Spellbinder Shapabilities die. Because of all the intricate cuts it takes a little while to get all the innies out. Also my die did not cut all the way through so that was even more difficult.
This is not glitter, this has been embossed. It is cut out of a popcorn box and then I put embossing gel all over and then embossing powder. I like the way it looks but I can see I still missed some places. The inner square is the part that you could shape and make this more 3-D.
I’m leaving for Hot Springs, Arkansas tonight for several days of relaxation, a spa treatment and to play my first round of golf. The best part is spending time with some dear friends.
On My Way Home
Sorry, a very short and sweet post today. We are traveling back from Hot Springs today, so I’ll have to tell you later how I did at my first round of golf.
Now that Halloween is out of the way we can focus on Christmas. Wow, less than 60 days and I have absolutely no clue what to buy for Christmas. Where are all the Christmas lists?
Time to Fall Back
Hey, just a quick post (because I’m still in Hot Springs) to remind everyone don’t forget that daylight savings time ended this morning at 3:00 AM.
Funny, thing is we didn’t set any of our clocks before we left, so we will have to be sure and set them when we get back. Yum, an extra hour to sleep.
