Birthday Card – Chocolate

This month in the Card Maker magazine I fell in love with one of the cards they made.  Although I didn’t have the exact stamp or markers I decided I would use what I have and make the card.

The card starts out with a 5.25″ x 5.25″ black card with the card opening from the bottom up.  Two mats in white are cut to 5″ x 5″.

Since I didn’t have the ornate stamp that they used I found something that I felt would work and it is a $1 acrylic stamp I found at JA’s.

You need to stamp (in green ) three motifs.  To make it interesting make sure part of the motif is stamped off the mat.

There is a little message that goes on this mat so leave room on the right hand side.

I took my Prisma Pencils (using the MCPT) and colored in one of the sunflowers with a color as close as I could get to the color of the ink I used to stamp.  Luckily I had something close, otherwise I would say to be sure and look and see what you have before you start.

The next thing I did was to stamp in the message and another sunflower in black ink.  Now my stamping wasn’t that great but I was able to us my micron black pen and fill in what I missed.

The saying is one of my favorite sayings and it was a $1 stamp from M’s.  I also inked the edges of the mat with the same color as I used to stamp the green sunflowers.

The inside mat is simple just stamp the upper right hand corner with the same stamp and run some ribbon at the bottom.  I added a little doodling to the stamp just to give it a little ump!

The same ribbon that is on the inside of the card is used to add a little tag to the outside of the card to finish it off.

I used a pale gold thread to run a zig-zag over the edge to hold the ribbon in place.

I also went back on the black stamped sunflower and added a little yellow Stickles.

The tag is just a couple of folds and I put permanent tape on the ends to hold them in place.  This also makes it easy to sew it on the mat.

This is a very simple yet beautiful card.  A personal note inside and you are done.  If you make your own envelopes mine fit nicely in a 5-7/16″ square.  Hey if you like this let me know I would love to hear from you!
