Birthday Tag
The tag itself is made from 2 pieces of cream card stock cut at 4 x 6 then glued together. I wanted it to be thicker that just ordinary card stock but not as thick as chipboard.
Click on the picture to enlarge it so you can see the detail. I first took one piece of the card stock (cs) and embossed it with Tim Holtz Sizzix embossing folder. I just want to stop right here and tell you these embossing folders are terrific. They seem to emboss deeper than the other embossing folders. I then glued both tags together and used distressed inks to color the cream cs (Wild Honey, Brushed Corduroy, Spun Sugar, Shabby Shutters and Stormy Skies).
The metal 2 and the crown and the butterfly wings are elements from the workshop I attended with Tim Holtz. I used alcohol inks to color the 2 and copic markers to color the hearts on the crown. The happy birthday is from Paperwishes (Hot off the Press) Mix your Messages.
The label is cut with Nestibilites Label 4 and I left the tag in the die cut and inked the blue leaving the middle light. When you take off the die cut it gives you a perfect border. Which in this case is glittered with yellow German Glass.
The flower is homemade using copic markers to add some color. You can see that technique done here.
I cut the U out at 2″ x 2″ using Plantin Cart with caps on. I cut this out of thin chipboard twice and glued them together then I colored them with my copics markers in various greens.
The 3 gold dots on the U are made using Viva Glitter Liner in gold. Although similar to Stickles this product does not flatten out as it drys. That way you can make your own glitter caps, dots, or balls (whatever you want to call them) and they stay raised. If you use it as a line it stays raised adding texture to your card, scrapbook page, or altered art. The ribbon is actually vintage seam binding that I got here. Absolutely love this stuff.
You can’t see the jumbo eyelet in this photo but it was cream and I colored it with copics (a green). I then slipped ring in the eyelet and started tying various ribbons on the ring to finish off the tag.
I wrote her a personal note and tied it to a gift bag.
Sometimes making a large tag adds a nice change to giving a card. Just as purposeful, you still have a place to put a sentiment or right a note, but you don’t have to decorate both sides ……unless you want to.
I think it turned out great, especially since I was having such a difficult time being creative. Actually, this kick started me back in to my creative MOJO!
So, let’s see what I can come up with, my Mother is turning 82, Sunday, Septmeber 19th so I need to make her card. So stay tune
Happy Birthday BFF – Phyllis
Ok, so I had to go way back in my pictures to find one of Phyllis (she is the one on the far right).
First let me tell you about this woman. She decided to change careers and for the last 18 months she has been on the fast track to become a nurse. She completed that journey this year.
She and her sweet husband Joel, are the couple everyone wants for friends, there when you need them and loads of fun. She is also a straight shooter, she will tell you how it is not what you want to hear.
I am so amazed at her tenacity, her ability to go after what she wants and the ability to get it. Now, amongst all of that she has a love and life for God that shines.
Happy Birthday my Friend!!!!!!
I have her birthday card ready, but I’ll have to show it after I give it to her. I don’t want to blow it before she sees it in person.
M’s $1 Spot
I think these have been the cutest finds at the M’s $1 Spot in a long time.
I’m not going to show you all of the stamps up close, you can click on the picture above and see them up close.
This stamp reminded me of my #2 Daughter. She loves type and things vintage. It just so happened when we were talking she had found them and loved them too.
So along with the cute stamps they had cute journals to match, note cards, labels and the list goes on and on.
I’m telling you, you just have to keep checking M’s out from time to time. They have some really cute stuff! Wow, and they look great on the website’s new look, don’t you think?
Believe…….
Hi Everyone! Ok, time for a little Christmas. For those of you who do not know I have a Santa Collection. I’m really picky about my Santa’s but I try to find one a year.
When I decorate the mantel it is all white and silver with just a touch of red. This Santa is going to look great among the reindeer, sleigh and other frosted and glittered items.
Click on the picture so you can see all of him.
I’m going to replace the green velvet ribbon with a red ribbon to get that touch of red in the mix.
He is going to go great with my white Nutcracker, don’t you think? I need to get all of my stuff out so I know what I have and I don’t buy something twice.
So this Santa was $34.99 @ Michael’s but I had a 50% off coupon and got him for $17.50 which I think for this much glamor it was worth it. Now, there is a large silver vase that I think I need and then there is some shiny crystal branches….oh the list could go on and on. Now is the time to use the 50% of coupons on the Christmas items because they will put the Christmas items on sale for 30% off and you can’t use a coupon on them when they go on sale like that!
Canton, Texas – Perfect Weather
Hey everyone! Yep! That’s me at the Tim Hotz class a couple of Sundays ago.
This Labor Day week-end we went to Canton . For those of you who are not familiar with Canton, every first Monday of the month there is a huge trade day in a little city called Canton, Texas. There are acres of new stuff, old stuff, things you grew up with and things you never knew existed. This is a great place to people watch and it is also a great place for food. It is the greatest girl friend trip you can do together.
When we (usually my 2 daughters and my best friend) go there is always a game to see who will make the first purchase. Once that first purchase is made, it is easier for everyone to get in the mood to spend. This family of girls loves to shop. Also, Canton has several vendors that carry my favorite flip-flops …Yellow Box Shoes.
I’ll try to get some pictures up of the great finds and there are some real cute $1 finds at M’s, they had a 50% off coupon for Labor Day and then when you bought something you get another 50% off coupon for next week. Well, I’m buying some Christmas items now before they put them on sale for 30% off and coupons can’t be used on them.
So stay tuned……..
It’s All in the Bag – Part 2
Thanks for returning. We’ll finish this craft project off.
This is the finished product. We ended the post yesterday where the bag has now been cut and it is in two pieces.
We have the two pieces and in this photo I have already folded and scored the lines. When you cut using the Cricut, the Cricut will cut a little slit where the score lines go. Some people don’t like these lines and they will use the hide contour feature to eliminate them. I like the little slits because they show you where to put the fold lines.
I won’t go into how to fold and tape the purse, once you get the fold lines in place it pretty much falls into place.
Here is the stack of purses, and once you start putting them together you get a rhythm going.
I cut an embellishment out of Tim Holtz’ die cut and imported it into my SCAL and then copied it over again until I filled up a 12 x 12 mat.
This was so easy and loved the fact that I could cut a bunch at one time, instead of cutting one at a time through my CB.
So, I used the Cricut and cut out everything we needed. We did 60 medallions, 60 circles with a computer generated Thank You, 60 TH frames, 60 cream flowers, 60 gold flowers and 60 black flowers.
All it took is 5 of us one night to make the bags up. The fun part was getting together and getting to know everyone.
Thanks lady for your dedication. Thanks Mom for being such a trouper and helping.
I hope you learned something through these two postings. I apologize for the posting and it being out of align sometimes you just can’t make these things do what you want them to. Thanks you for visiting.
