Princess Card for Rylan’s Birthday
I made this card for my DGD, Rylan, she turned 2 years old.
This biggest part of this card is rub-ons. It was a K&Company Amy Butler Set that I bought probably over a year ago. It included all the medallion, corners and the little crystals to go around the medallion and several other pieces that I used inside the card. The paper is from BasicGrey urban prairie line.
That is Cinderella’s dress; however, I used my Copics and colored it pink (RV00, RV02 & RV06). There is Diamond Dust on the white petticoat and glitter on the top of the dress. The dress is a color book page I found on the internet. I saved it and used it as a digi stamp so I could color it with the Copics.
The crown is an SVG file that I got from ScrappedLives.nl. She has some incredible files and they cut beautifully. Be sure to visit her site and leave her a comment. The glass slipper is made out of acetate and the cut is from SVGcuts.com. They have super free cuts and great tutorials on how to use Scal. I used the bottom layer of the shoe and placed a piece of white shimmer paper behind the acetate so you could see the shoe better. I used some Sakura Gelly Roll Star Dust pen on the shoe to make it a little shimmery, a little bling and the glass slipper come to life.
I needed the dress to be pink so it would match her card and I thought Cinderella’s dress fit the card perfectly,
The rhinestones I found at my local M’s. I’m always watching the 10 for 10 spots and picking up a package of rhinestones as I go along in various colors.
I used Martha Steward white gold glitter on the crown and I cut the crown out of cracker box that I recycled. The dress was also cut out of a recycled box and the digi stamp glued on top. Then I added foam dots to the dress, crown and the toe of the shoe to add some dimension.
I decorated the inside with the rest of the rub-ons from the package and wrote her a short note. Rylan says Sleeping Goudy (instead of Sleeping Beauty) and she calls one of the Princesses CindaBelle. I edged the message mat with a line of MS white gold glitter.
The card came out beautiful and it fit her and her party perfectly!
Thanks for stopping by and leave me a comment, I love hearing from you.
Birthday Card
Here is the rest of the Birthday Card.
Click on the picture so you can see all the details.
The second set of wings are made out of striped vellum and of course a little bling.
Here again is the crocheted flower my 81 year old Mother made.
I’m teaching a Woman’s Bible study for our church, it is the Beth Moore study on Esther. Over the next 7 weeks every Tuesday night we’ll be digging deep into the word and seeing how Esther handled herself when “It’s tough being a Woman”.
Don’t forget to leave a comment everyday to have a chance to win the Blog Candy. I’ll get the picture of the Blog Candy up on Wednesday.
All Occasion Card
I love this color combination (purple and green).
I used TH Distressed ink Dusty Concord and Shabby Shutters to ink the edges.
This is either a Hero Arts Stamp or a Stampabilites Stamp (I don’t remember which). I stamped it and then embossed it in black.
I used my Copic Markers and colored in the areas and then I used Stickles here and there to add a little bling.
An olive sheer ribbon to finish it off and this simple card (no sentiment on the outside) can be transformed into a card for any occasion.
Mother’s Day Card 2010
Here is my Mother’s Day card, be sure and click on the picture to get a closer look at all the detail.
I got this idea from Paper Crafts magazine – Go-to-Sketches on page 136. I changed up a few things like the flowers are from the Pagoda cart.
The flourishes are Sizzix’s Scribbles Swirls. I then glittered them with glitter called Gilded Grape Leaf from P K Glitz, Inc. (love their glitter and their colors). The bracket label is a Nestibilities Label Three. I used a Sakura Gelly Roll Pen Clear Star (my all time favorite) for the line on the label.
Did a little doodling around the large flower and inked the edges the small flowers next to the brad were cut out of sheet music.
I used Tag, Bags and More cart and cut a tag and made it into a ribbon slider. The word Mother is computer generated and the ribbon is actually vintage seam binding. One thing I learned is that seam binding ravels so I used some Aleene’s Fray No More (you can get this at your local craft store).
I used clear distressing stamps from Glitz it Now for the background and variegated pink Sulky thread for the stitching.
The colors are just simply cream, blush pink and chocolate and I inked everything with Stampin’ up Pretty in Pink. The paper is from my stash just very generic paper from my local craft store. I think this color combination with the inking takes on a very vintage feel.
I haven’t finished the inside yet, looking for just the right thing to say. Thanks for looking and please leave me a note would love to hear from you.
With Sympathy – with Cri-Kits Gel Pens
If you haven’t heard of Cri-Kits Gel Pens yet, let me enable you. Cri-kits allow you to draw anything that you can cut with your Cricut.
There is a metal holder that holds the specially made gel pen using a magnet. I originally bought these when they were called cricut gelly. However, when Cri-kits came out I received an e-mail telling me that they had changed and since I bought them originally they would send me a new holder free if I ordered their new pens. I did and when I look at the old pens and holder versus the new pens and holder you can see a difference.
The dove with sympathy is a cut file from SVG Cuts. I cut the dove out in some shimmer paper (I got this paper in a flower packet from Paper Source) from my stash. On the bottom part I first used the Cri-Kits gel pen and drew the bottom part out on a silver blue card stock. I placed a post it note under the pen mechanism in my Cricut and removed it and put the blade mechanism back in and re-cut the same design.
I used my copic markers to add some gray highlights to the dove. I used C1, C3, C7 and I used Y19 on the beak. After I glued the dove to the bottom I used the same color gel pen (blue glitter) to color in the flourish on the wings. I also used my copic marker B23 and ran it around the complete dove embellishment to add some depth.
Here is a close up to see what it looks like.
I used a MS punch down each side of the gate fold card and the three little jewels on the lower right are actually clear and they pick up the color of the charcoal card stock. I think I got the cs at M’s….or was it JA’s ……….maybe HL. It was open stock paper.
At this point this card would be perfect for a man, not to much frill.
I used some coordinating pattern paper to cover the inside and a Stampin Up ticket punch to punch out the corners. I dropped some more “skittles” in each corner and I also used the same punch on the border of the pattern paper to repeat the theme from the outside.
To keep the sentiment from showing through when the card is closed I cut a piece of vellum and placed on top of the center.
I think it adds a nice elegant touch to the card.
When I first made the card I held it closed with a ribbon.
It was ok but didn’t hold the card together the way I wanted it.
I cut a small piece of velcro and hid it under the sympathy that overlapped. I place the velcro on the embellishment first and then pulled off the other side of the adhesive and folded the card the way I wanted it to stay closed.
I like the way this worked and at this point if I was making this for a man I would stop. However, I wasn’t making it for a man so I wanted to add some more things.
I added some flowers that I made by hand using the same pattern paper, card stock and vellum that I used on the rest of the card.
By the way I cut the olive branch from the original dove and added green stickles to it. I placed that between the dove and the mat that the dove was attached to.
Used my Bow-Easy made a cute little bow out of the green to match the olive branch and I was through.
Hope this inspires you and yes you need the Cri-Kits. They are so easy to use and add another dimension to the cards. Of course I started out with the glitter pens but I’ve got my eyes on the metallic next.
Daughter #1′s Birthday Card
A couple of weeks ago my 81 year old Mother and I spent the day together making B-cards for my daughters. This is the card that she made for Daughter #1.
She crocheted the flower and she used TH’s Distressed Ink Scatter Straw to ink a white card. We pulled some pattern paper from my stash and crimped a piece of scrap pattern paper for the stem.
The ribbon is Stampin Up and we used Copic markers to color the white checks to match. Yes, that is a MS punch for the border.
Mother does such beautiful handwork and getting one of these cards is a real treasure.
The leaves are made out of Aida 14 count cross stitch cloth and I’ll be showing how to do this soon.
If memory serves me correctly the “HB” stamp is from M’s. We dressed it up with some rhinestones and a cute little bee.
Probably a better choice for the embellishments would have been gold instead of silver, but Mom choose the center of the flower and I wanted to keep the metal look the same for her.
Very, very cute. Daughter #2″s B-day is coming up in May. Mom’s card for her is already made but I can’t show it until after May 17th. However, I just finished a sympathy card that I’ll let you see and I did the front several ways. Leave me a comment, I love hearing from you.
She’s No Spring Chicken
This is the digital stamp I used on #1 Daughters Birthday card. I used Copic Markers and I also used Stickles on the tissue papers in the bags and the stripes around the bags. I also used Glossy Accents on the little tag.
The back ground around the bags are Copic Markers also.
I used a tool that roughs up the edges of the black and white strip of paper. These were all scraps from my stash.
The inside was simple enough. She had a great party (thank you Amber) and as soon as I figure how to upload the pictures to my website I’ll show you the very cute cupcake bouquet Amber made. I forgot my camera and my SIL had to e-mail me the pictures but I’m having a time figuring how to get them to my website.
Oh, well hope you enjoy the B-Card for #1 Daughter. Today is actually her Birthday. Happy Birthday Brandy, you are one awesome woman.
Tea Bag Card
I fell in love with this card when I watched a video, byVicky Papaioannoum, on how to make it. You can also get a free download at www.clip-n-cuts.com. She is pretty amazing so if you get a chance check out her site and you need to watch the video. She doesn’t talk through them, she just shows you how to do it (love that).
This card features a tea pot, a cup and the tea bag string is actually attached to the tea bag that is inside the card. How cute is that and it adds a very cute dimension to the card.
On the video she shows you how to make the little flap to hold the tea bag and she took her tea bag out of the wrapper. I left my tea bag in the wrapper and took my craft knife and cut a slit in the back of the wrapper and pulled the teabag string out.
By the way the flavor of the tea bag is Ginger Peach and it is made by Stash. This is one of my favorite tea flavors because it is so flavorful.
As you can see I kept the inside simple and used a CB embossing border to divide the card sentiment from my personal note.
Before I cut this slit in the card for the tea bag string to go through, I place the elements on the front of the card and “eyeballed” where the middle of the cup was going to set. If you watch her video she demonstrates that technique.
I lifted the elements with foam tape as shown in this picture.
The sentiment on the outside of the card is a stamp I bought years ago, but always works well with a sympathy card.
The doodling around the card was done with a brown Prisma pencil. I didn’t have a brown ink pen and I think the Prisma color pencil gives the card an informal look.
I also took Glossy Accents and covered the Tea Pot, cup and saucer to give it a china look.
Some additional things I added to the card ….. steam to the tea cup (Stickles, copper), a border that looks like it is sitting on a doily (MS scalloped punch).
This was a card that I sent to our Pastor’s wife Lori. Lori lost her Grandmother last week and since Lori loves tea, I know she will find comfort in the scripture verse, and a good cup of tea.
I’m working on a real cute album for my Mother and I will share that process with you when I finish getting it made and all the pictures taken. Thanks for stopping by and let me know what you think.
Easter Bunnies Continued…..
Sorry, I didn’t get back yesterday. You know how it is some days flow smooth and some days you can’t get everything you intend to do done. Oh well, better late than never!
Here is a list of Copic markers that I used on this card (click on the picture to get a bigger view):
Y000, Y21, Y02 – This is everything that is colored yellow.
V000, V12, V15 – This is the violet pink.
YG03, G85, G82 – This is the green (I zig zag stitched the grass in and then colored also)
R14, R20 – This is the inside of the bunnies ears, nose, and checks
B000 is the highlighting around the bunnies and C1 is used to shadow the white bunnies. This helps the white look whiter and makes them look like they were colored white instead of just being the white of the paper (they were not colored that is the white of the paper). I also use C1 to help deepen up some of the light areas that I wanted to have a little depth to the color. The importance here is you need to make sure you use the right tonal quality with the colors you are deepening. The C1, C3 etc. colors are a cool gray, so they work well with the colors of the picture.
I added some Stickles here and there and the little bunny has Glossy Accents on the apron.
I cut the scalloped egg using a piece of acetate (I’m recycling). I then ran it through the CB using an embossing folder. Unfortunately, I didn’t write the name of the embossing folder down on the folder so I have no clue what the name of it is; however, something like Floral Fantasy would work too.
I took Ranger’s Adirondack Lights Acrylic Paint (Lemonade) and went around the edges. Be sure and let this dry (it doesn’t take long) or it will smear.
I also inked the edges of the egg card in a darker pink before I adhered the scalloped acetate egg to the front.
I used some pop dots to lift the little white egg with the bunnies up off the acetate egg. Tied the bow using my Bow Easy and placed it where the sun would be shining.
This is a little card, the egg card measures 3″ at the widest point across and about 4″ high. You can make it as big as you want it if you are using something like Sure Cuts a Lot. Be sure and check out my earlier post today for the website that has the freebie svg cut.
I’m am so loving the Copic markers, my #2 daughter said she thought I probably like them so much because it makes you feel like I’m are painting again. I used to teach Tole and acrylic painting years ago. Hmmm, there may be something to that!
Hope you have fun with making something similar. I’m loving the look of acetate through an embossing folder. Let me know what you think, I love hearing from everyone.
Easter Bunny – Egg Card
Oh it is so late, so I’m going to give you a start post and then try to finish it sometime tomorrow.
I got the egg shape from SVGcuts.com/blog (here). This is a great site, not only do they give away free svg files they also do video’s. I took this and made it into a card using Sure Cuts A Lot program.
I cut the scalloped edge egg out of acetate and I printed the little bunnies on an ATC trading card made out of Bristol Smooth.
So these are the basics I started with and I’ll come back and update the post tomorrow when I have more brain power.
