Nascar Could Be In Their Future!

When my daughters were little stores didn’t have the shopping carts decked out like cars.  I know if they had we would have used them just like their Mother does for them.

Oh my, these carts are larger than normal to accommodate the extra space needed to dress them up.  This one at Lowe’s is one of my favorites because it has a place for both of my little angels to sit and it also has two steering wheels.  That way each one of them gets their own.

IMG_2802.JPGPicture perfect; however, I’m thinking if Gareth doesn’t watch it Rylan may take the lead.  She already rules the roost even if she is little.  Hmmm, I wonder where she gets that little attitude from?   I’m thinking #1 Daughter is getting ready to pay for her raising through this little Nascar Driver.

Mother’s Handwork…

My Mother loves to crochet and I’ve gotten her interested in making some cards.  I have been trying to get her to try her hand at crocheting some items that can be used on a card.   These are her first attempts at designing some items.

Here she has various sizes and colors of her rose flower.  I love the 3-dimensional look she achieves with the petals.  I also told her the little pink flower would be perfect for layering together with other flowers.

These are little borders of crochet to add down or across a card.  I’m looking forward to sharing these pieces on a future card.  However, it is a little difficult to give them away since my Mother made them.  But, some lucky person will get to see just how beautiful her crochet handwork is and I pray they appreciate it as much as I do for every little stitch she has done.

There is a lot of years of experience and a lot of love that goes into each item she makes.  She told me this week she had designed another flower that she thinks is better than this one.

Now that is what I’m talking about, getting those 80 year creative juices flowing.  Thanks Mom, for your beautiful work!

P.S.  If you are interested, I’m sure she would be glad to sale you some.  She can always use extra money for her “stash”!

Loop-de-Loo Now Up and Running

Good morning, I wanted to do a little plug for my #1 daughter’s new website, Loop-de-Loo (    She is a very talented lady and has some very cute and unique items.  This is the beginning post and she will be adding things to  it so be sure and keep checking back.

I personally love the black and white bracelet and I can tell you those hair accessories are even more beautiful when you see them in person.  She is always on the look out for new items to add interest and make things unique.  She also does things in custom colors all you have to do is ask.  I’ve added her to my blog roll and you guest it she is being added to the list to receive a blog award.

Be sure to hop over and take a look and leave her a comment.

What goes through the mind of a cat

This is Henry.  He is our grandkitty.  My #2 daughter travels quite a bit and we take care of Henry (named after Indiana Jones).  Maybe because he is always getting into tight places.

Henry discovered my work bag (keep in mind this has a zipper section running through the middle of the bag) and decided it was the correct place for him to get in and take a nap.

As you can see he is quite pleased with himself and doesn’t understand what all the commotion is about.

Maybe he is hoping I’ll take him to work with me!

Thinking of You

I have a friend that just had surgery and I’m trying to make him a card.  I’ve come up with this layout so far but I’m at a standstill.  Keep in mind this is not inked or glued down yet but I’m trying to figure out the finishing touches.

I think the reason I can’t come up with anything is I’m too tired.  So, I’m going to walk away from it and see if I can get a fresh approach.

So that means I should come up with something over the next few days.

Thanks for stopping  by and yes that is a MS zig zag border punch.  I’m not sure I like the fub on, but I wanted to see what the layout would look like with something in that spot.

Momma’s Got a Brand New Do!!!

Mom's New Hair DoMy Mother got her hair cut the other day and was so excited she ask me to take a picture.

She wanted the picture for a number of reasons, one so she could send a copy to both her brother and sister, two so she could have a picture to show her hairdresser the next time she went to get her hair cut.

After I took her picture she asked me how long it would take to get the film developed.  I then explained that the camera didn’t use film it used a SD card and how you could upload things to the computer and then download them to Walmart, Walgreens, or CVS.

I told her I could even print the picture from the computer, but to do it that way was expensive because of the ink it requires.  She was so amazed how everything had changed from what she knew and she said it was difficult for her to keep up with it.

I don’t know about you but sometimes when I think of how far and fast we have come, there is something comforting in knowing that you can get by with the simpler way of life.  That means more time for each other and stopping to enjoy the beauty that our God has given to us to enjoy.

Hats off to you Mom and your new do!  I ordered several copies and they will be mailed directly to my house.  Wow!  You don’t even have to go anywhere to get them.

Pictures Say 1000 Words

scan00022.jpgSometimes all you have to do is look at the picture and you get the very feeling that it wants to evoke.  When I look at this picture I see pure bliss.

These are my two Grandchildren.  Gareth will be turning 4 this month and Rylan turned 1 in May.

These children are the delight of Papa & NaeNae’s and Granddad & Granna’s life.  They are the first grandchildren on both sides.  Yes, they are spoiled and we like them like that!

I had all girls, so when Gareth came along I have had myself a ball playing with a boy.  In NaeNae’s eyes he doesn’t do much wrong and I’m always willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.  Gareth has had a talent for drumming ever since he was able to pick up two things that even slightly resembled drum sticks.  So I’m sure there will be lessons in the future to cultivate that talent even more.  Right now, his voice is music to my ears when I hear him calling me NaeNae (he named me).

Rylan will rule the roost, so the picture is appropriate that she is “Queen” of the hill.  Yes, you are seeing correctly she is one healthy little girl and she enjoys trying all kinds of foods.  Right now Elmo is one of her favorites and loves to dance to Elmo’s World.  She also has that disapproving “grunt or growl” down when you are trying to get her to do something she doesn’t want to do.  However, nothing gives your heart quite a thrill as you walk in the door and her little arms start waving as she shows her excitement to see you.

I just want to say thank you to an awesome SIL (Travis) and a beautiful daughter (Brandy) for giving me and Papa two wonderful gifts.  They are a bundle of fun to play with and they are beautiful children inside and out.  That is because their parents are trying to teach them well.  So far guys you have done a great job.  Keep up the good work, yes it will be wearisome and tiring but the end results will be worth it; after all look how well you both turned out!

June Card Swap

I participate in a card swap on the Paper Wishes Message Board.  The idea is they give you a theme each month and they randomly draw a name, from everyone that agrees to participate, and you make a card using supplie you have  from Paper Wishes.

You send the card and when the receipient receives it, they go to the MB and post a picture and a thank you.  Mary at CardzforU, got my name and sent me the card she made.  The theme this month was “anything” and she did a great job.

PW June Card Swap - CardzforU

The picture does not do this card justice.  That could be because of my picture taking lacks something or my camera is just not high powered enough to capture the beauty.

The colors are vibrant and I love the sentiment.

She left the inside of the card blank for a personal note, if I wanted to send the card on to someone else.  I don’t think so!!  This will be one of the cards that I place on my inspiration board so I can look at it often.

There is a matching envelope too!  She uses the same technique I use on envelopes.  Use two sided paper that way the inside of the envelope is just a nice as the outside.

Thanks Mary, for such a beautiful card.  If you haven’t visited her website, be sure and go check out her videos and other cards.  You can find her at or you can find her in my Blog Roll on the right hand side of the page.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure an leave me a comment, I love hearing from you!

Capadia Designs #5 – Welding in a Frame

Walking in the Flowers

Here she is walking amongst the flower garden that my #1 Daughter made in her breakfast nook area for Rylan’s birthday.

Trying to get a “just right” picture was more than difficult and this was as close as I could get.  Still she was the guest of honor and enjoyed her day to the fullest.

If you haven’t had a chance to see the latest on Capadia Designs Video #5 on Welding in a Frame is excellent.  Here is the link  I learn so much from her and if you have DS this will help you a great deal.

I know I was surprised that I found some time to post too, since I’m on a mini-vacation but I can’t seem to stay away.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure and leave me a comment, I love hearing from you.

Rylan’s First Birthday Card

Yummo! There is something about your 1st Birthday.  Unfortunately, most of us don’t remember it, but oh what fun the adults have while watching them tear into that Birthday Cake or smearing that ice cream.  Yummo! Sugar!  I can tell you that once the cup cake hit her mouth she did not remove it until it was almost all gone.

This is Rylan and May 21, 2009 she turned 1 year old.  This is a beautiful child with her Father’s eyes except for the color.  The piercing blue is from her Mother.  She has a very sweet disposition and she is a tremendously happy baby and she is learning how to dance.

Rylan's 1st B-Day CardOf course a 1st Birthday, requires a special card and I thought this little dress with a pinafore was perfect for her.  There are two charms, one is an angel and the other is number 1.

The petticoat is the MS border punch and the pinafore is CB embossed using the Perfectly Paisley folder.  The collar is made with Spellbinders Scalloped Hearts with a Raindrop heart to accent it.  Everything is inked.

The die cut heart was cut then embossed and a little paper piercing was added to the edges.  To get a closer look just click on the picture.  The paper piercing on the collar can best be seen on the previous picture of the front of the card.

This card was very simple and easy to put together and perfect for a little girl.

I covered the dress on the inside in simple white; however, the card could lend itself to a lot of variations and “dressing up”.

Thanks for stopping by and let me know what you think of Rylan and her 1st Birthday card.

Mother’s Latest Creation

Yellow Day LillyThe DayLillies in my flowerbeds are beginning to bloom.  Even after all the rain, it looks like I’m not going to loose anything.  Whew!!!!!

I love gardening, there is something about getting out and playing in the dirt that I love.  I also love the results of the hard work when they bloom.

I found a new Crochet magazine (I’m always looking for my Mother) and in it was a pin cushion.  I asked Mom if she would make it for me and before I knew it she whipped it out.

TopPin Cushion - Bottom

I have these decorative pins I purchased from JoAnn’s and bought me a stuff animal to keep them on display.

My girls always thought it was odd to stick pins in a stuffed animal, but I was trying to find something cute to display my pins and be functional (decorative).

Finished Pin Cushion

I removed the pins from “Duckie” and put them in my new crocheted pin cushion.  The pin cusion does a very nice job and actually gives me more room to see what I have.

Duckie, says “thank you” now would you please pass the Tylenol!

Thanks Mom, for another outstanding piece of work.  Hmmm, I need to see if there is something else I want out of that magazine.
