Layout Card – PW Card Swap

IMG_2742.JPGThis month’s Card Swap on the Paper Wishes message board was a card using a layout (LO) design.  That is pretty simple, that just means adding a picture.

The picture I included on the card was one I took of some daisies in my flowerbeds.  Although it is hard to see in the picture the larger daisy is sharp and clear and the smaller one is blurred.  This draws attention even more so to the bigger daisy.

The pattern paper is from Paper Wishes Cards and More with Dazzels.  I cut the border off the paper and used it horizontally across the width of the card.  There are two layers of Paper Wishes vellum border (cut using MS border punches) to give some depth and dimension and I added some Stickles (glitter glue) to give it a little extra sparkle.

All the mats are inked and the ribbon is a sheer apple green polka dot.  The word precious is a rub-on and a little bling for the dot on the i.  If you look closely (you can enlarge the picture by clicking on it) you will see a few dots with a white pin and some stitching.

IMG_2744.JPGThe mats on the inside of the card carry the theme from the front and including the horizontal strip cut from the Paper Wishes border paper.

The embellishment was a little something extra that Amy Burgess and her son sent to me when they sent the card she made me for this month’s card swap.  It was the perfect color, received at the perfect time to include in my card.  It already had slots in it so I just wove some ribbon in and out, added more Stickles to finish it off.

I love being part of the card swap not only for the beautiful cards but for the challenge of coming up with a card to give someone you just met or are getting to know.

June Card Swap

I participate in a card swap on the Paper Wishes Message Board.  The idea is they give you a theme each month and they randomly draw a name, from everyone that agrees to participate, and you make a card using supplie you have  from Paper Wishes.

You send the card and when the receipient receives it, they go to the MB and post a picture and a thank you.  Mary at CardzforU, got my name and sent me the card she made.  The theme this month was “anything” and she did a great job.

The picture does not do this card justice.  That could be because of my picture taking lacks something or my camera is just not high powered enough to capture the beauty.

The colors are vibrant and I love the sentiment.

She left the inside of the card blank for a personal note, if I wanted to send the card on to someone else.  I don’t think so!!  This will be one of the cards that I place on my inspiration board so I can look at it often.

There is a matching envelope too!  She uses the same technique I use on envelopes.  Use two sided paper that way the inside of the envelope is just a nice as the outside.

Thanks Mary, for such a beautiful card.  If you haven’t visited her website, be sure and go check out her videos and other cards.  You can find her at or you can find her in my Blog Roll on the right hand side of the page.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure an leave me a comment, I love hearing from you!

To Dazzle or Not To Dazzle???

Can't you just smell them?I know, I couldn’t resist… here is another peek into the card that somebody from the PW MB is going to receive.

The picture does not do it justice.  I know you will love this, because you will get to see first hand how lovely the MCPT (Magic Color Pencil Technique) is when used on stamped images.

Now I’m headed off to San Antonio to go with my #1 Daughter to take my DGS to Fiesta Texas (they have a Wiggle World there) and to Sea World.

I’ll try to post something by Friday, but don’t hold me to it I may be too tired.  Talk with you when I get back.

Just a Peek….

Inside the June Swap CardOk, I’m going to be gone from Tuesday through Thursday, so I’m not going to be posting.  However, I’m feeling a little mischievous and thought I would give you a peek at the card I have finished for the PW first Card Swap.

The theme is “anything goes” and Fab from England is spearheading this event.  I can’t wait to get mine in the mail to “my buddy” (whoever I get in the random pick).

So, I hope this gets you motivated to get your card done or better yet if you haven’t joined you still have time to join.  Go to and scroll down to the June Card Swap thread.  All the information is there and even a thread for questions if you have them.

Thanks for looking and be sure to leave me a comment.  I love hearing from you.
