Pictures Say 1000 Words

scan00022.jpgSometimes all you have to do is look at the picture and you get the very feeling that it wants to evoke.  When I look at this picture I see pure bliss.

These are my two Grandchildren.  Gareth will be turning 4 this month and Rylan turned 1 in May.

These children are the delight of Papa & NaeNae’s and Granddad & Granna’s life.  They are the first grandchildren on both sides.  Yes, they are spoiled and we like them like that!

I had all girls, so when Gareth came along I have had myself a ball playing with a boy.  In NaeNae’s eyes he doesn’t do much wrong and I’m always willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.  Gareth has had a talent for drumming ever since he was able to pick up two things that even slightly resembled drum sticks.  So I’m sure there will be lessons in the future to cultivate that talent even more.  Right now, his voice is music to my ears when I hear him calling me NaeNae (he named me).

Rylan will rule the roost, so the picture is appropriate that she is “Queen” of the hill.  Yes, you are seeing correctly she is one healthy little girl and she enjoys trying all kinds of foods.  Right now Elmo is one of her favorites and loves to dance to Elmo’s World.  She also has that disapproving “grunt or growl” down when you are trying to get her to do something she doesn’t want to do.  However, nothing gives your heart quite a thrill as you walk in the door and her little arms start waving as she shows her excitement to see you.

I just want to say thank you to an awesome SIL (Travis) and a beautiful daughter (Brandy) for giving me and Papa two wonderful gifts.  They are a bundle of fun to play with and they are beautiful children inside and out.  That is because their parents are trying to teach them well.  So far guys you have done a great job.  Keep up the good work, yes it will be wearisome and tiring but the end results will be worth it; after all look how well you both turned out!

Capadia Designs #5 – Welding in a Frame

Walking in the Flowers

Here she is walking amongst the flower garden that my #1 Daughter made in her breakfast nook area for Rylan’s birthday.

Trying to get a “just right” picture was more than difficult and this was as close as I could get.  Still she was the guest of honor and enjoyed her day to the fullest.

If you haven’t had a chance to see the latest on Capadia Designs Video #5 on Welding in a Frame is excellent.  Here is the link http://capadiadesigns.blogspot.com/2009/05/by-george-i-think-ive-got-it.html.  I learn so much from her and if you have DS this will help you a great deal.

I know I was surprised that I found some time to post too, since I’m on a mini-vacation but I can’t seem to stay away.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure and leave me a comment, I love hearing from you.

Rylan’s First Birthday Card

Yummo! There is something about your 1st Birthday.  Unfortunately, most of us don’t remember it, but oh what fun the adults have while watching them tear into that Birthday Cake or smearing that ice cream.  Yummo! Sugar!  I can tell you that once the cup cake hit her mouth she did not remove it until it was almost all gone.

This is Rylan and May 21, 2009 she turned 1 year old.  This is a beautiful child with her Father’s eyes except for the color.  The piercing blue is from her Mother.  She has a very sweet disposition and she is a tremendously happy baby and she is learning how to dance.

Rylan's 1st B-Day CardOf course a 1st Birthday, requires a special card and I thought this little dress with a pinafore was perfect for her.  There are two charms, one is an angel and the other is number 1.

The petticoat is the MS border punch and the pinafore is CB embossed using the Perfectly Paisley folder.  The collar is made with Spellbinders Scalloped Hearts with a Raindrop heart to accent it.  Everything is inked.

The die cut heart was cut then embossed and a little paper piercing was added to the edges.  To get a closer look just click on the picture.  The paper piercing on the collar can best be seen on the previous picture of the front of the card.

This card was very simple and easy to put together and perfect for a little girl.

Inside

I covered the dress on the inside in simple white; however, the card could lend itself to a lot of variations and “dressing up”.

Thanks for stopping by and let me know what you think of Rylan and her 1st Birthday card.

Ladybug, Ladybug, Fly away home…..

I participate in the Cricut Message Board.  There have been numerous times that those ladies have lite my creative jucies and in this instance it is another case of seeing something and needing to do it.  Donna Mundinger, from the Cricut MB, did a DC Ladybug Valentine back in February.  It was so perfect for my 9 month old GD; however, I didn’t have all the carts that she used to get it made.  So I improvised a little.  Unfortunately, I think mine came out looking more like a fat fly then a ladybug.  This is Rylan’s first V-Day and her room is black/white with a splash of hot pink.

WIMG – ladybug
Stickles – Black and pink
Charm – Blue Moon
Antenne – heart George cart then glossy accent then pink glitter, wrapped wire around skewer.
Doodles done in white pen
CB – Fancy Swirls

I hope when she gets old enough to have a love for cards, paper and ribbon that she realizes what these tokens of love mean.  She certainly makes my heart sing every time I see her and those crystal blue eyes melt your heart.
